COVID-19 Response at Nomad

During this unprecedented time, we have been inspired and motivated by the creativity, resilience, and collaboration of the Nomad community as well as other businesses, schools, and leaders on a local, national, and international level. As an innovative provider of instruction, we have leaned heavily on Nomad’s core values and pedagogy to guide us through this challenging time. We teach the importance of iteration, revision, flexibility, compassion, and community to our students; we seek out adventure and celebrate nimbleness; and we put students in the center of all that we do. The embodiment of these traits have and will continue to be crucial to our ongoing COVID-19 response.

We have created four instructional scenarios that have been informed by the surveys Nomad families completed in July and October, staff collaboration, and the oversight by a Nurse Practitioner who acts as our Health and Wellness Coordinator. We are prepared to implement and transition between these scenarios as needed. All logistics related to curriculum, instruction, supplies, technology, health and safety, building operations, and staff have been accounted for in these scenarios. If we are cleared to reopen by the San Francisco Department of Public Health, we will take our time in making community-based decisions regarding these scenarios. We will only open when our staff and community is ready to reopen. We will know that our community is ready to reopen based on survey data, community conversations and 1:1 check-ins.

This reopening plan includes our instructional plan and scenarios, health and safety practices, and other related logistics.
